3. Hyperthyroidism
This disease is most common in middle-aged and older cats and involves an overproduction of thyroid hormone. Symptoms include weight loss despite an increased appetite, increased thirst and urination, hyperactivity, vomiting, and diarrhea. Prevention is challenging but can be managed with regular vet visits and early detection, allowing for effective management through medication, diet, or surgery.
